Knights of Columbus

Saint Mary, Our Lady Help of Christians Council of the Knights of Columbus # 12174 was established on Founder's Day, March 29, 1998.  The idea of having the local council at Saint Mary's was initiated by Rev. Mark Balczeniuk and District Deputy Joseph Lukashewski.  Prior to that time anyone who aspired to join the Knights of Columbus found it necessary to join a council outside of our home parish.  There were 42 founding members of Council # 12174.

The original founder of the Knights of Columbus was Reverend Michael J. McGivney on March 29, 1882 in Connecticut.  At that time, the main purpose was to help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith, and to take care of the Christian women and families who were left behind without a husband and father.  Today, this brotherhood of men help wherever needed, both financially and spiritually in the Church and community.

Meetings are the first Wednesday of the month at 7 P.M. in the social hall.  Current Officers include:  Grand Knight, John O. Baab; Deputy Grand Knight, Tony Carberry; Recording Secretary, Matt Mickowski; Financial Secretary, Paul Mendofik; Treasurer, Jamie Zeroda; Trustee, Lee Caffrey; Trustee, Stan Gluc; Trustee, Ed Straub.
